I have worked in the mental health field of Montana and Idaho since 2010. I started off my career as a psychiatric nurse at the Montana State Hospital then moved to NBMI at St Patrick's Hospital in Missoula. Upon Completing my masters degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Gonzaga University, I moved to Sandpoint Idaho, and worked both in private practice and at the community health center. I then moved back to Missoula in 2021 and have been working at St Patrick's Hospital in outpatient psychiatry since.
Many people imagine seeing a psychiatric provider as sitting in a stuffy office, lying on a couch, and being asked, “How do you feel?” That’s not my approach. Instead, I focus on having a friendly, open conversation to better understand your core symptoms, how your environment and past experiences contribute to them, and to develop an accurate diagnosis.
From there, we work together to find a medication regimen that helps you feel better—without the burden of side effects or feeling overmedicated. In addition to medications, I emphasize the importance of sleep hygiene, exercise, stress management, and, when appropriate, therapy recommendations.
Extra privacy, not having my office in a hospital setting
A more relaxing environment
Ability to self schedule appointments if you need to be seen sooner
Scheduling longer appointments when you experience significant changes
Never feeling rushed at the end of a visit
Smaller practice allows for a closer relationship with your provider
